PETER KNOX BIO: Born and raised in Ontario, Canada (2 hrs east of Detroit). Soon after marriage, moved(new job) to Toronto for 25 years(until 1991) - then transferred to Corporate Headquarters to the Cincinnati /Northern KY area with the same US owned Company. We all (my wife Christine and our two sons) became US citizens after the mandatory 5 year waiting period. Education: Chemical Engineering Graduate, numerous Sales and Marketing courses such as “Psychology of Professional Selling”, cost effective, and efficiency courses. Work details and personal history: After my first 3 years of Engineering in the petrochemical industry I was hired by a supplier - the Canadian subsidiary of an American Global Process Equipment Company (SWECO Inc- then out of California) and began a long, predominantly sales /engineering career. Some years after becoming VP Sales and Marketing for Canada(approx 1980), Southern Corporate voices began calling. Eventually Christine and our 2 teenage sons happily moved to the US (greater Cincinnati /Northern Kentucky area) where our new world headquarters was located. From a US Regional Sales Manager (still looking after Canada) I eventually became Director of Sales of the parent company overseeing sales for the Western Hemisphere (close to a hundred outside sales agents). SWECO (just Google if curious) manufactures high quality filtration and separation equipment including centrifuges etc for the food, chemical, pulp and paper, and oil drilling business. Along with my sales/marketing role I was still involved in Engineering for SWECO and I am very proud to have my name on 3 US Patents involving our equipment. I loved the experience of working with sales people and developed great relationships with our thousands of customers and agents in the US and also globally provided sales and technical support. Integrity and loyalty were a large part of our success, and of course, we supplied an excellent product along with superior post sales support. This maintained our position as one of the worlds leading suppliers in our specialized field Our company’s success was based on our focus in providing great customer presale and after market service. I stayed with this same company for over 35 years until early semi retirement in 2005. That’s my work history/personal story in a nutshell. Future retirement planning and a love of golfing, fantastic weather, great amenities, plus good friends, all brought us to Naples in 2001 and we then bought one property here. Later in 2005 we bought a larger one (one now a rental income property). Both are in East Naples (Cedar Hammock). We fortunately have now lived here in “Paradise” full time since 2005 and are thrilled with our original decision to move to Southwest Florida. I got the nickname “FORT” years ago and it just stuck – organizing golf trips to Fort Benning Georgia plus almost 15 years living in KY also helped "set" the nickname.
